Word Vomit (Week 11)
Today I'm going to share my work in our impromptu story or what we call word vomit in our class. Last time whenever we do word vomit, we will create a story based on random words but this week we worked on constructing based on a picture. So here is my word vomit story for this week:
It was a beautiful sunny day but not until something was occuring in the ocean. The ocean started to make a big and heavy waves. It is not an ordinary waves. They are the waves that are forming and are bigger than a person. It is enough to take down a tall building. But not everyone is aware of happening. These big waves are silent killer. The disaster was onto them without them knowing. The black and furious skies were like agreeing to the waves eating the city. The waves finally reached the land forms. These giant waves washed off beautiful man-made structures. The silence is now broken. Cries, sobs, screams are everywhere.
“Tsunamiiiiiiiiiiii” scream of a woman in a business suit who saw a tsunami coming over their place.
“Evacuate everybody!” said the other employee.
Now you can’t understand what they scream for due to inaudible words coming out when they yell.
You can see the panic in their eyes.The thing that they think of is that this is the end of the world, the end of their life. Everybody rushed up to exit the building and it causes a stampede. Many did die because of the stampede.
The other people in the other city where the tsunami is just coming over, you can see the awe in their eyes but frightened too. They immediately move and go to a higher and safe place to save themselves. Children, adults, men, women, everyone will be affected by this phenomenon.
I am learning how to write a story of what I can see to a picture. I know that my work is not yet enough because I didn't reach my goal but I will try my best to improve my work.

Planning to Make it!
Good day everyone! So today I'm back on my blog about my DTE learning. Last week until now, we are working on planning on creating an app. This is a group work and I am grouped with Devie, Warda, and Ofa. We called our group "The Superlatives".
We had our discussion of what we're going to do for our project called 'Operation: Create an App'. We decided to make an app for the people who have depression but it can also be for everyone who will use it. We talked about what kind of app it will be and we agreed that it will be a chatbot. Then we started our actual scheme for the app.

We used the websites Padlet and Coggle for our planning session. These websites are so useful because we can share it with each other and cooperate with the planning we are doing and they are also free!.Padlet is like a bulletin board but on the online way. You can choose what kind of wall or theme you want to use. You can put pictures, videos, links and stuff there which is good because it is in your hand what kind of wall you fancy for. The thing that I just didn't like about this web is that you need to refresh it over and over again when someone did some change or edit the work. It's like you are in the same place but all the things you do are complicated because it doesn't settle at the same time.
While on the other side, Coggle is like a mind map to help you organize your plans and thoughts about a certain topic. It helps us to put our ideas together when we are using it. In fact, we added some more information in our plan when we used this website. I am fascinated when I used especially when a new branch is added (it's like colorful corals :) ). I just struggle how to use at first but overall it's convenient to use.
I think I've picked the right group. When I was working with them I always smile and laugh. We suit for each other, we understand what stand every person in our group suggests, we collaborate our ideas to make a simple and creative scheme.I am not saying that we are the best group of most of all but I can say that this experience of working with each other is great cause everyone is engaged to participate and happy to work with. Our group is not perfect but we try as possible as we can to communicate to each other. Actually, I am the leader of this group and I am trying my best to be their motivator and the carrier of the team. Even though I am the leader, I can't feel I am the leader at all cause everybody is being given the chance to be the leader and I think what's more important. I really hope that we can start creating the app.
What I've got by doing this project of ours is that it might be hard starting making an app and we are still struggling but if you have people that are in your group struggling it will be worth it. This planning that we did is a good start for us and I hope we can continue to make it because it is really hard to make.I've learned that working hard is good to blend with fun. It does makes you enthusiastic of what you want to achieve.

Changed Our Minds
Welcome to my blog again my dear readers!. I think you're intrigued about what am I going to talk about today because of the title of this blog post.Don't worry it's not something serious it's just that we change our minds in our Music presentation.
Today we decided to finalize our decision about our presentation. So we tried different piece of songs to practice and chose one song at the end. Last time we said that I'm going to do the piano, Devie's part is playing the guitar and Tyrepa's managing the drums but the we altered the parts. Now me and Devie's going to sing and Tyrepa's going to play the guitar. And also we said 'See you again' is our presentation but we found it hard and we don't have much to practice it and we even changed it to 'A Thousand Years' but it didn't work. Our decision about our song is just to sing 'I'm Yours' by Jason Mraz which is happy and good to sing.

Movie Analysing
On Monday, I finished the Beginnings, Hooked or Bust concept of the task that we've been given by Ms. Richardson which we will watch the first 10-15 minutes and we are going to answer some questions. Below are the questions:
The Power of One: Film Study
The First 10-15 Minutes
A typical film question will focus on those crucial first 10-15 minutes! Why? Because the director must catch and hold your attention for fifteen minutes or you won't watch the film.
1. Soundtrack: What sort of music? What impression does it give?
The music was a African music which I think is a traditional music. It gives an impression that the audience is watching an informative and bygone movie about African culture.

2. Visual. What is the first shot of?
First of all, the quality of the movie represents it’s a past event in Africa.
The first shot that is used is the zoom in shot that shows the map of Africa
and slowly zooming the place of the scene.

3. Visual. What camera technique is then used to “focus” us on the area of interest?
The movie used the zoom in shot technique to show the area of interest which
is an image of South Africa with a two giraffe and trees. |
4. Visual. Written text scrolls onto the screen. What key information are we given here?
The key information that this gives us is that it helps us to determine
what, when, where is the scene is happening, it is for us to understand
the movie more. Specifically as the history of Afrikaners and African

5. Visual. A dissolve is then used on the shot. What to? What effect?
It is used to insert next scene with a transition.It is the fade-out effect
which it is slowly disappearing and as it fades the two giraffes gets real.

6. Visual. What landscape do we pan over?
It is the place where are the characters are which is in Africa.
To display the place the scene takes place and it is where PK lives

7. Audio. Soundtrack: Whose voice? What film technique? What key information is given here about character?. What effect?
It is the voice of the main character of the movie, PK or Peter Philip.
It is the voice-over technique. The key information that is given by the
character is that he narrates his childhood.

8. Visual. Shots: There are a number of medium shots of PK being born and then with his Nanny, mother and Tonderai. What shots strongly shows the respect PK’s mother has with the nanny?
The medium close-up when PK’s mother was giving birth to him.
There’s also a zoom shot then wide shot where Tonderai was
breastfeeding and PK’s mother was there sitting reading a book
which shows that she has trust for Tonderai.

9. Visuals: What medium shot shows racial harmony?
It is when PK was breastfed from Tonderai and also when PK and
the African boy was sitting next to each other playing the piano.

10. Audio. PK's voice-over: “For the first time in my life, I felt afraid.” Here the key theme of fear is introduced. Where else in the film must he face fear of some sort? (2 egs)
When he go to a boarding house and it is his first time being away
from his family and he is still a boy that time. Of course, when he
found out that his mother died.

11. Visual.Shot: 1.Close Up on face of PK as his mother hugs him goodbye. What emotion is shown by this Close Up 2.also, CU on Nanny a little later — what emotion?).
Sadness because he knows he needs to go and he definitely will miss
his mother but at the same time happiness and encouraging.
It is because her mother is happy to give her cherished treasure
to her child and in her eyes shows that she is saying that he can do it.
It is sad with care. She is sad that the boy she raised is now leaving
without anyone to guide and help him.

12. Visual. Symbolism: PK's mother gives him an ostrich shell bracelet. What does it symbolise for her? How is it used later in the film?
The bracelet means a treasure to her which was given to her loving
husband when they first fell in love. PK also gave it to his first love.

13. Audio. To a school run by Afrikaners. What do we learn from the preacher's speech ? (soundtrack/screenplay).
That they are really eager to get the African’s land and they have bad relationship with the English people. In his speech, we learned that they hatred the English people and Afrikaners are strong enough to own the land.

14. Audio. PK's voiceover on his first lesson in history. What do we learn about the Afrikaners? Why does PK take the blame for this?
The Afrikaners tried to beat the English but they failed and the English people imprisoned Afrikaners children and women.
Because it is how and what the people perceive from him.He takes the blame for this because the Afrikaners believe that all English people should be put down and of course, he is English so they pressed him down.

15. Visual. Shot: CU on Botha. How does he express his contempt for PK
His face was in dark expression, eyebrows meets together, eyes on brood and he even spit on PK’s face.

16. Visual (and Audio) Theme of racism: How is PK punished for being English?
He was bullied by the Afrikaner students around him. Peeing in his face and body, spitting saliva in front of his face and etc. His voiceover and dialogues shows what is he experiencing with them

17. Visual. Botha the bully: Over the shoulder shot, from the point of view of PK, low angle, emphasises what?
It emphasises that he is taller than PK and he has the power to do commands to him.

Music's Presentation Preparation
Last week Ms. Beer assigned us to prepare for our last practicum for the term 1. It is a group presentation wherein everyone should have their own instruments (piano, guitar or drums).She let us decide who are teams we will pick and what song we are going to present. Then she also these questions:
1. Who is in your group and what is each person doing?
- Me, Devie and Tyrepa. I'm going to play the piano, Devie's will play the guitar and Tyrepa chooses the drums.
2. What is the song you are working on? ( add a youtube link)
-We are working on See you again by Wiz Khalifa ft. Charlie Puth
3. Why did you choose that song?
- We choose the song See you again because it's a good song to play piano together with the guitar and drums. It has also a great melody and tune which is more likely make us sing and present it well.
4. What is the song about?
- It is about friendship. Actually, we all know that the song See you again was dedicated by Paul Walker who died years ago because of a car crash. It tells about longing for the friend who made memories together. The trials and journey which made their relationship strong.
5. What is going to be the challenging part of the song?
- The part that is challenging for as playing the piano is the chorus where I need to play two keys at the same time with my right fingers.

- The chords of the song and how are we going to play at the same time with the accuracy use of the instruments.
