Chapter 5-6
Tomorrow, When The War Began: Chapter FiveMust Do Questions:
What does Corrie’s choice in career say about her character?
-She is so outgoing and always ready for interesting things. She is passionate about what she wants to do in her life. She organizes her life and future properly according to her passion.
The group’s ability to avoid arguing with each other is rare- do you think that there would have been more drama if you and your friends went bush for a week?
- No, I don’t think there would be been a drama if we went bush for a week. First of all, we have our eldest friend that can manage us all as she is like our mother-sister in the squad. Second, I think all of us is matured enough for dramas and arguments (except for one HAHAHA) and if there are dramas between us, we’ll keep it to ourselves and will not make it a bigger issue because we believe in our friendship not the tension between us. Lastly, everyone in the squad will just don’t let it and we love laughing and giggling to each other.
Why do you think Ellie and Lee feel uneasy just before their return to Wirrawee from the Bush?
- Because both of them are uneasy and seek outside information. They feel something is up and it is bad. They want an answer to those curiosity feeling in their hearts and mind.
What do you predict will await the group back home, why do you think this?
- Ruined town, silent road, and something like the catastrophe.
Tomorrow, When The War Began: Chapter Six
Must Do Questions:
What is the first sign that something is wrong with Ellie’s house?
-Her dogs are dead.
Who is the first person to really realize what is happening?
-It was Lee realizes what is happening. When they came to Ellie’s house, there he is acting more cautiously and he seemed careful to what he is doing.
What is Ellie’s reaction to this person’s caution? Why do you think she reacts this way?
-She told him that he is wrong and he should stop doing things. She reacts this way because she can’t accept the truth that war is happening in their town.
How is the pace in this chapter different from the chapters before?
If you were in this situation, would you test the radio or not? Give reasons for your thinking.
-This chapter contains more suspense and serious atmosphere between the characters and the setting compare to the previous chapters where Ellie can still add some past happenings and joke around.
No, I won’t test the radio. Like the characters in the story, I am scared. I am not scared for myself but I am scared for my family to put in danger if the authorities find out someone is still alive in the town.
Do you think the way the teenagers reacted to the realisation that Australia may have been invaded or at war was realistic? Why/why not?
-For me, it’s not, because if it is really war why don’t the invaders completely intrude the whole place? They don’t have to leave that place and wait for someone to come there before they attack.
