Tomorrow, When The War Began: Chapter Three
Must Do Questions:
Why does Robyn think they are the only people ever to have gone into Hell?
-Robyn thinks that they are the only one people ever to have gone into Hell because that place doesn’t have the spot or any changes that people would do if they discovered a new place. And if the place was already into the Hell it will probably a tourists spot since it is a beautiful place.
Why do you think the valley is called Hell?
-I think that the valley is called because there’s a history which can be compared into Hell but since the time goes by the place is abandoned by people cause it has so many memories and dark incidents occurred there.
Why must the teenagers seem like visitors from hell to the wild things living in the clearing? How is this ironic?
- They seem like visitors from Hell because they feel like Hell is the place that they are used to and they haven’t so it is ironic. She said this line to give knowledge to readers that they are the visitors from Hell and they are yelling out telling the other parts of the place that they came from this astounding creation, Hell. Seems so not understandable but makes sense.
What picture of Kevin do we get in this chapter?
- We get the picture of Kevin where he is so talkative and he feels excited to the thought that their adventure is going to be fun as they found the bridge that’ll lead them to Hell.
What does Ellie liken Fi to? Do you think this is a fair assessment of her character? Use examples from the text to support your thinking
- Ellie likens Fi from being beautiful, elegant, ignorant, graceful, sophisticated, precious, a coconut to the outside world( doesn’t know what’s happening in the outside world), and she is just role model for Ellie. Like from the chapter two, Ellie stated there that everything Fi did is gracefully (page 18 in the book). Also in the first chapter when she is introducing Fi, she uttered there that Fi is a hero for her stating this line, “Fi was always a bit of a hero to me, someone I looked up to as the perfect person. It is a fair assessment to her character because Ellie may not be the traits of Fi have, Ellie makes more impact to the story as she justifies more of details in the story and feels like Fi does just balance the story.
At times Ellie switches her narration from retelling the story to commenting about her life in the present - why do you think the author has chosen to write in this style?
- It is to give details about her background story and to create comparison in things happening in her present times. The author has chosen this style because it made easier to write happenings in the story and it has more sense when things are being compared. It also helps the readers to absorb more details about the life of the characters.
