Chapter 4
Tomorrow, When The War Began: Chapter Four
Must Do Questions:
Do you think the way they handled the snake incident was appropriate? What could they have done differently?
- It is either yes or no. I will say yes since nothing bad happened to them and the snake didn’t bit any of them so it was a relief. But I will say no because what they did is wrong and if the chances are different, someone could have bitten by the snake. What they did wrong is that they all waited for the snake to come out and they even are around the sleeping bag which will make the snake have no choice to escape but to bite one of them to get out. Since they ran fast before the snake could bite them, it was a relief.
Ellie claims that ‘Hell’ is only a label and that people label things all the time, often ignoring or overlooking certain labeled places or things. She then comes to the conclusion that ‘Hell was people’. Is she right? What’s your opinion, on labeling and Hell?
-Yes, she was right. She’s right the Hell was just label. People do label things on their perspective but sometimes their perspective opposes the real place or things. Hell was not really a hell. Sometimes they do label things according to their feelings or what they see outside. You see Hell was not literally a hell. In fact, it was a nature that deserves more than that name or label. It is a place that will ease your emotions. It’s a paradise but ironic to its name.
What was especially peculiar about the planes that flew over Hell? ‘Their ------, their ------, their----- frightened me.’ Do these characteristics have any significance?
-These planes just flew so low and there too many of them which are really strange and too uncommon for it to visit in Wirrawee. Yes, it has significance. The fact that these planes occurred when it is night time where people are in their lovely sleep created a big impact.
The way that Ellie described those planes builds some ideas in the readers that it was something dangerous. And what’s more questionable is why in the Commemoration Day? Where people are gathered and enjoying not minding their surroundings?.
Corrie and Kevin are the only couples in the group, but the trip was bound to bring friends closer. So why does Homer’s interest in Fi seem so odd to Ellie?
- It is because Homer doesn’t seem to talk to that kind of things especially he is known for his mischievous actions. Or maybe it can be because of the feelings of Ellie to Homer. Since Ellie feels attracted to Homer, it can cause for her to not believe that the guy he likes, likes another girl when it’s just natural for a man change because of love.
Fi brushes off the planes coming back from Commemoration Day. Why do you think the planes were flying over Wirrawee?
-Because Wirrawee is the most possible target for those planes especially if that planes are for to invade the place. Wirrawee is celebrating an occasion which more likely to make it easier for the intruders to break down the place.
Robyn claims there were dozens and dozens of planes flying over them. What is Lee’s response? Is his suggestion reasonable?
- Lee’s response is it is the start of the World War Three. Well, it can be possible. With those dozens of planes, how can you not think of a war? And as of the detailing of Ellie to those planes, it is not the property of their own country and she can recognize the menacing sense of the bizarre planes.
