Discussion of Trailers

For my blog today, we are going to tackle about trailers and film features again. We are assigned to answer questions(below) to determine how can we identify the film techniques in certain trailers.

Trailer 2 (Edited)

Trailer 4 (Edited)

These are the questions:

What are the 3 main film aspects (conventions, techniques etc.) used in trailer 2?
  • Establishing shots
  • Mid-shots
  • Terrifying Background music

What are the 3 main film aspects (conventions, techniques etc.) used in trailer 3?
  • Close up shots
  • Point of View angle
  • Low angle

What are the 3 main film aspects (conventions, techniques etc.) used in trailer 4?
  • Close up shots
  • Over the shoulder shots
  • Establishing shots
What the similarities between trailers 1 and 2?
- The similarities between the two trailers are the editing skills. It was edited in a way that portrays the characters and the plot of the movie. And of course, the characters are both the same.

What are the differences between trailers 3 and 4?
- The difference between the trailers 3 and 4 are the feels, clips, camera angles and shots, and the different tone of the voiceover.  The 3rd trailers will definitely give you feels of thrill and horror while the 4th one will give you cheesy and romantic feels. The tone of the voice over is also different since the trailers are portrayed in the different genre.

I learned how to create an analysis of trailers. I can say that this work shows my understanding of the lesson cause I worked hard and I used my knowledge to complete the task. I wonder if this topic will be useful someday in the future or if I can still remember film terminologies when I grow up (I hope I still can :) ).
