How many squares are there in a chess board?

       This time my blog is about squares on the chess board. We were assigned by Mr. Werder to solve how many squares are there on a chess board.

       We found and learned that to get the answer, there is a pattern. Once you get the pattern, you will find out the answer.

The result is 204 squares.
To get this, we first counted the 1x1 squares which is 64.
Then, we counted the 2x2 squares until 8x8 squares.

The results:                            The pattern is the square of 8 and below.
1x1= 64                                              8x8
2x2= 49                                              7x7
3x3= 36                                              6x6
4x4= 25                                              5x5
5x5= 16                                              4x4
6x6= 9                                                3x3
7x7= 4                                                2x2
8x8= 1                                                1x1
Then add them all and the results will be 204. Hope you learned something!.
