Tomorrow When The War Began pt.7

Chapter 13-16

Tomorrow, When The War Began: Chapter Thirteen
Must Do Questions Cont:
All the teenagers have a specific role to play in their group. Describe the roles each teenager plays?
-Homer is like the leader of the group. Fi’s kind of the one who’s informing them what language the radio is telling. Ellie’s the one that can lead them but sometimes she’s filled with thoughts bothering her mind so she can’t handle leading. Robyn is the good girl that always look up things in positive and good ways, she always considers things that will not harm anybody. Lee’s the person in the group that doesn’t always speak up but once he suggests his opinions, it always makes sense. Chris is the man that suggest what comes to his mind but doesn’t make sense sometimes but there’s a little side of him that you can lean on. Corrie’s the girl that everyone can be with, she’s outgoing and friendly, she invests so much to people she loves.
According to what the teenagers hear on Corrie's radio, why would America be best not to get involved in Australia’s struggle?
-Because America’s will make it more complicated and it will probably experience bloody war. It loses too much already that it can’t be able to fight anymore.
Why is Australia being invaded?
-According to them, Australia is so rich in nature’s blessing. They have the tempting land that is really suiting to be invaded and colonized.
A reader can infer many things from the snippet of news heard over Corrie’s radio. Which country or countries are likely to have invaded Australia?
-As of my research, I found out that Australia is one of the included countries in the 1991’s Gulf war which is Iraq was defeated. So I suppose that it is in Middle East countries. Or Vietnam or America.
How are the prisoners being treated?
-They are being treated fairly as they are fighting for their lives. The humanitarian cure was so important for people like them.
What do Kevin and Robyn argue about? Do you think Robyn’s points are fair?
-They argued about the invading of the intruders in their country. If we’re going to look at the point of view of the invaders, what Robyn stated was right. Kevin just can see what is their country is facing but doesn’t dig into why does the war started?. Robyn’s point is just to understand why such things are happening and that doesn’t mean that she’s opposed to what’s Kevin thoughts are but she’s clearing the possible reason to invaders create war and also even though she’s fighting for their sides doesn’t mean she’s on their side and will not fight anymore but what she did is kind of making people see that there are reasons for all of the happenings.
“Paradise of Hell” is an oxymoron. What does it mean?
-Despite the name of the place which is Hell, there’s a place that opposes from the name which is a Paradise. So ironic.
Kevin’s hatred of the invaders is quite extreme. Why do you think he is so angry?
-For his point, he kinda makes sense. Well, who wants to get invaded though? After all the investment and hardships that their ancestors to their generation created, they will just end up being destroyed in a meaningless war?. His point justifies his country.
The group takes turns discussing the extent to which they’d go to make a difference. -
Order the characters by their commitment to overthrowing the enemy?:

  1. Kevin
  2. Homer
  3. Ellie
  4. Corrie
  5. Robyn
  6. Lee
  7. Fi
The group is starting to think about long-term survival in Hell. What are some clues to this?
-The talk about Hermit’s choice to stay in Hell. Their dream of having a good life in Hell.
What does the group decide they must do at this point?
-They decided to keep track of what’s happening in the Showground and start packing up to live in Hell
Despite the fact that the teenagers are in the midst of a war zone, evading enemy soldiers and planning guerrilla operations, they still find time to harbor romances. Do you think this is realistic?
-Yes. As what we said they are teenagers and teenagers are the most risk people in this world. What my point is teenagers are in their stage where emotions can control over them and that’s what happens in them.
Tomorrow, When The War Began: Chapter Fourteen
Must Do Questions:
What reasons does Ellie give Lee for not wanting a relationship with him?

-She gave him a confusing reason which she said she didn’t mean it but halfway she means it but she didn’t mean it the way he meant it to. She said this stuff to make him stop bothering cause she knows to herself that she’s still bewildered by her emotions.
What do you think are the real reasons?
-The real reasons are because she was absolutely confused by her feelings. Once in a while, she is thinking about Homer but after a while it’s Lee. She wants a clear mind first and she’s scared that she might choose the wrong decision that she will regret, in short, she’s afraid of disappointments.
Tomorrow, When The War Began: Chapter Fifteen
Must Do Questions:

What do Ellie and Lee find in the Hermit’s hut that the others don’t know about?
-The box that tells about some details of Hermit's lives. This box contains papers and documents about something related to what his true character is.
According to the coroner’s report, what are the two possible ways the Hermit’s family died...
 Which do you believe? Why?

-It is either they suffered from bushfire and burnt themselves then Hubert shot them in the head; or Hubert shot them with the rifle in the head intentionally then burn their bodies to hide them.
Actually, I don’t know to believe with those two choices and findings of the coroner. I have the guts that he didn’t kill and he was just framed up by someone cause that someone hates him and maybe because that someone likes Hermit’s wife. To make Hermit out of their lives, he decided to burn the bushfire near where Hermit is living but that someone made a mistake that instead of killing Hermit, he killed Mary and Imogen. Because of fear, he killed them completely with a rifle.
Tomorrow, When The War Began: Chapter Sixteen
Must Do Questions:

What is the Hermit’s mother in law’s attitude toward him as seen in her letter?
-Hermit’s mother-in-law is standing in his innocence. She believes that Hermit’s just accused and he didn’t do what he was stated as a criminal. She seems knows Hermit’s personality and character that killing his own wife and child is nonsensical to her.
What does this suggest about the way in which the Hermit’s family actually died?
-I think they set it up, the people from the town. It says there that they are only new from the town and people might not like them so they decided to push them away but they just can’t do it. So they target the weak ones, the wife, and the child, then it will be easier to brush off Hermit.
What makes Ellie change her mind about Lee on the way back from the Hermit’s hut?
-That’s Lee was really the one he likes in matter or love.
